Dactylaria candida is the most common of the fungi possessing non-constricting rings and knobs. Both rings and knobs can be detached after attached to passing nematodes. It also produces spindle-shaped spores that often germinate to form adhesive knob and can attach to passing nematodes. Detachable knobs, rings, and adhesive spores help the fungus to be disseminated to new sites and is a mean of overcoming fungistasis.
